Interactive tool
The point cloud, in your browser.
This is the tool a site visit should not be enough to judge. Orbit it, cut a section through it, measure it, and ask whether the data actually answers the question. If a point cloud will not convince you here, a screenshot will not convince anyone.
Viewer unavailable
This viewer draws with JavaScript and a canvas. Without it, the capability list and the methodology below still describe the work in full.
Drag to orbit · shift-click to measure
Synthetic sample data.Procedurally generated and not a client site. A real project dataset loads here once it is chosen and permissioned.
What the viewer does
Everything the screenshot cannot.
01
Orbit, pan and zoom
Drag to orbit, right-drag to pan, scroll to zoom. Damping is applied so the model settles rather than snapping.
02
Colour by height, intensity or distance
Height maps elevation onto the site ramp. Intensity is what the surface actually returned, which is how a polished floor differs from a dark room.
03
Point size and opacity
Both are adjustable, because a dense cloud at 3px opaque hides everything behind the first surface. Turn opacity down to see through.
04
Section box
A clipping box, with its limits read out in local coordinates. Switch it on to see the interior of the structure, which is where the survey questions usually start. Nothing is deleted, so it can be switched back off.
05
Measurement
Shift-click two points for a horizontal distance and the vertical difference between them, which is usually the number the drawing is really about.
06
Scan-station overlay
Toggle the synthetic scanner positions and the lines of sight between them, to show how coverage was actually achieved.
Why a viewer, and not a picture
A rendered screenshot of a point cloud is a photograph of a claim. It shows the one angle that looks best, at whatever density hides the noise. A client who cannot rotate the model cannot tell whether the noise is there.
Anyone can claim millimetre accuracy. Far fewer will let you cut a section through a wall and check the flatness of it.
What arrives with a real project
- →Registered and cleaned point cloud in an open format
- →The registered scan positions, so coverage can be audited
- →A written accuracy statement with the achieved residuals
- →Classified data where the method supports it
- →The ability to re-issue any of the above in your own format
