Land & Engineering
Topographic & Land Surveys
The measured shape of your land, in a form a designer can actually build from. Levels, contours, spot heights and hard detail, captured in the field and delivered on a coordinate system you can trace back to a physical point on the ground.
Typical accuracy · ±10mm horizontal and ±8mm vertical on control, typically ±20mm on detail.
When you need it
- →You are buying, selling or developing land and need the levels to be certain.
- →A planning application needs a site plan showing existing levels and proposed levels.
- →A designer needs contours to lay out a road, drainage or a building footprint.
- →Somebody else has quoted a slope or an area and you do not trust the number.
What you get
- Contour plan at a stated interval
- Spot levels on a fixed grid and at hard detail
- OSGB36 eastings, northings and orthometric heights
- AutoCAD and/or PDF drawing, plus the raw point data
- Existing hard detail: kerbs, levels, drainage, walls, boundaries

Questions we get asked
How long does a topographic survey take?
Most sites are a single day in the field. The drawing is normally issued within two to five working days depending on the extent of detail and contour interval you need.
Do I need this if I am only buying the land?
Usually not before an offer, but almost always before you exchange. Levels change what you can build and change the price. It is the cheapest way to find out what you have actually agreed to buy.
Often needed alongside
Level Surveys & Site Gradients
Accurate falls and cross-falls, including Kent's shrink-swell clay.
Boundary & Site Control
Boundary definition and setting-out control to RICS standard.
Drainage & Flood Risk Surveys
Flood zone assessment and drainage run-off measurement.
Drone Photogrammetry
Aerial reconstruction producing accurate 3D models and imagery.
