Level Surveys & Site Gradients
Accurate spot levels and the falls between them. On Kent's clay, the difference between a fall you designed and a fall you measured is the difference between a drainage scheme that works and one that ponds every winter.
Typical accuracy · ±8mm vertical on control, typically ±10mm on spot levels over short baselines.
When you need it
- →You are designing a drainage or attenuation scheme and need real falls.
- →Subsidence or heave is suspected and you need a level baseline to prove movement.
- →Retaining walls, embankments or platform levels need verifying.
- →A previous survey is being disputed and the levels do not agree.
What you get
- Spot level schedule on a fixed grid
- Cross-falls and gradients at the point of interest
- Benchmark and control documentation
- Profiles along specified lines
- Comparison against design levels where you supply them
How it runs
- 01
Confirm the benchmark and the levels you are measuring against.
- 02
Survey a close-spaced level grid appropriate to the ground conditions.
- 03
Close the levelling run and prove it before leaving site.
- 04
Issue the schedule with a clear note of the datum used.
- Horizontal control
- ±10mm typical
- Vertical control

Questions we get asked
Why is Kent clay specifically a problem?
Shrink-swell clay moves seasonally. A slope that is adequate in summer can hold water in winter. That is why a level survey of the actual ground is worth more here than a desktop assumption.
Where we cover
Norfolk based, working nationwide. Site-based surveying, so distance is rarely the constraint.
Most requested in Norfolk, Kent & Medway, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire & Essex, Lincolnshire & the Midlands.
Every town, district and borough we cover is listed in full on each region page. See the full service area.
