Aerial Inspection

Thermal & Insulation Inspection

Heat behaves predictably, and a thermal camera shows where a building is not behaving. Heat loss, failed insulation, blocked voids and water ingress show up as temperature anomalies that are invisible in normal light.

Typical accuracy · Surface temperature differences of 2°C or more are reliably detectable. Absolute values require a controlled reference surface.

When you need it

  • →Energy bills are higher than the building should allow.
  • →Insulation was installed and nobody has verified it worked.
  • →Intermittent condensation or damp appears only in cold weather.
  • →A retrofit needs to know where heat is escaping first.

What you get

  • Thermal imagery mapped to a building elevation
  • Annotated hotspots with severity and likely cause
  • Comparison with a reference or the previous survey
  • Recommendations prioritised by return on investment
  • Conditions recorded, since thermal data is time and weather dependent

How it runs

  1. 01

Weather and time of day chosen, because thermal data is meaningless without them.

  2. 02

Scan conducted with the building in a known state, ideally before heating or after a controlled period.

  3. 03

    Images processed and anomalies annotated.

  4. 04

Issued with the conditions, so the finding is not over-claimed.

Questions we get asked

Does thermal imaging prove there is damp?

It proves there is an anomaly consistent with moisture or heat loss. Confirming the cause needs a separate investigation. We will tell you which findings are certain and which need a further test.

Do we need this for a building survey?

Not usually, but it is cheap to add to a drone flight that is already happening, and it often answers the question the building survey raised.

Where we cover

Norfolk based, working nationwide. Site-based surveying, so distance is rarely the constraint.

Available across every region we cover.
